Information you provide
We process account and profile details such as your email address, username, name and profile image. We also process the content you choose to create, including location posts, titles, descriptions, private notes, ratings, photos, collections, comments, event posts, reports and messages or attachments.
Age and intended audience
Mapinia is intended only for people aged 18 or older. Do not create or use an account if you are under 18. If we reasonably learn that an account belongs to a person under 18, we may restrict the account and delete associated personal data, subject to safety evidence and legal retention requirements.
Location information
Location is central to Mapinia. When you create a location post, use nearby discovery, join or post in a local event, the app may request foreground location permission and process precise coordinates. A location post stores the coordinates attached to that post. You can deny or revoke device permission, but features that require location will not work.
Activity, device and purchase data
We process likes, saves, follows, event participation, notification preferences, blocked accounts and other interactions needed to operate the service. We may also process push-notification tokens, app language and theme settings, technical logs, subscription entitlement and event-credit purchase status.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate accounts, display map content, run search and social features, deliver messages and notifications, manage collections and events, restore purchases, prevent abuse, investigate reports, provide support and maintain the reliability and security of Mapinia.
Public and private content
Profiles and location posts are social features and may be visible to other users. Public collections and their public descriptions can be discovered by others; private collections and private notes are intended for the account owner. Content marked sensitive may be hidden behind a warning, but the marker is not a substitute for deciding carefully what to upload.
Service providers and transfers
Mapinia relies on service providers for authentication, database and media storage, notifications, app distribution, purchases and security. These include Supabase, Expo services, Apple or Google for sign-in, RevenueCat, Cloudflare for the website and protected favicon proxy, and Google’s favicon service for retrieving a public site icon by hostname. Processing may occur outside your country under the provider safeguards and applicable transfer rules.
Retention and account deletion
We retain information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, handle reports, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations. In Settings you can choose immediate deletion, which locks the account without a recovery period and queues permanent deletion within 24 hours, or a recoverable 10-day waiting period that can be cancelled by signing in. Limited records may remain where law, security or backup integrity requires it.
Your controls and rights
You can update profile information and app preferences, manage notifications, block or unblock users, delete your own eligible posts and collections, and request account deletion in Settings. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to or receive a copy of personal data.
Safety and reports
Reports may contain the reported account, location post, collection, comment, event, event post or event comment, a category and an optional explanation. We use this information to review possible violations and protect the community. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information in a report or support request.
